A review of Elly de
Waard in 'De Volkskrant', :
" Uriah Heep closed the festival with heavy
unnuanced but groovy rock. Singer David Byron is about the
most vulgair and most demagotic existing, but thats the way
rock&roll goes on this scale. The high vocals and fat
guitarriffs above the slow ritme fitted perfectly in the mood
of the festival. It was nice and very funny. Uriah Heep was in
Holland this year for the third time, the band was no surprise
anymore. But for sure at the right place and time."

David
conquers the crowd.
The band is awarded
with golden records for 'Return to Fantasy'.
Lee checking out the pool after the show, Ken
Hensley is watching in the background.
The VARA
registrated the festival for Radio & TV . It was transmitted
at the time, and never broadcasted again until may 14th 1999, when the
30th Pinkpop anniversary tv broadcast contained a full
registration of 'Sweet Lorraine'. The footage quality was just
stunning.
The item was called
'Pinkpop 1970 - 1983'. Other appearing artists : Focus, Golden Earring ( Back Home), Stealers Weel, Little Feat,
U2, Peter Tosh and many more.
When its
Heeps part first Pinkpop boss Jan Smeets is interviewed . When he talks
excerpts of Heeps set are
shown. Jan talkes about the problems dutch television had with
the Uriah Heep crew.
He
recalls that one of the camera's was placed in front of the drumkit.
Heep's stagemanager ( who knows his name?) was not amused about
that. He argued with the stagemananger, and fro some reason he hitted the
stagemananger by a uppercut, the guy
fell of the stagestairs. This incident upsetted the tv-crew, and
probably is the main reason for the negative critics when the show was
transmitted on tv a few weeks later.
Then a
full registration of Sweet Lorraine follows.
All
bandmembers are filmed closeby. Hensley looks
relaxed, he playes the hammond and takes a drink at the same time. Dave Byron is
acting as we all remember him. Moving, waving, shaking,
crawling underneath the spreaded legs of Mick, and goes down on his knees
with John Wetton.
